fabric collage is the quilted version of the <a href=\"https:\/\/alyssahinton.com\/mixed-media-artwork\/mixed-media-photo-collage\/art-of-transformation-10\/\">\u201cMum\u2019s The Word-Plantation Memory\u201d photo collage<\/a> and is about the little known fact (historical secret) of Indian slavery on southern plantations. In this case the ancestral figures (spirits) are poised in front of a typical eastern North Carolina tobacco shack. It&#8217;s based on my experience locating the tobacco plantation where my Indian ancestors were slaves.<br \/>\nA southern tobacco plantation is a very foundational and rudimentary form of cultural appropriation indeed, and one that reaped much profit for share holders.
