Studio Renovations:
I must confess, I took a respite from writing after the Holiday Season so I could focus on studio renovations. This included installing ceramic floor tiles!
With that said, I’ve finally come up for air to write this newsletter, which is the fourth update on my original “Heavenly White Space” post! You can find the links to those stories near the bottom of this letter!
So despite the mid-winter gap, let me get on with my 2020 Studio Renovation Update:

PART 3
The Accidental (and incidental) Collage Table:
I recently fashioned this giant collage table without extra spending! It’s made out of discarded scraps! It has a double layered top to provide shelving for in-process collage papers. These large panes of glass were in the basement when I bought my house/studio. Actually, I had originally thought of getting rid of them (God forbid)!:
Looking around the studio, I realized I could create a base out of old shipping crates from past shows. So I “sacrificed” three of them for the cause:
The spacers between the panes of glass are made of stacked 2×4 scraps I pulled out of the trash when I still had the contractors working with me. They’re the leftover tips from the wall framing job. I remember thinking “I don’t know exactly why I’m salvaging these, but they look useful to me.” :
I topped off the collage table with a piece of white canvas to block the view of the collage scraps and supplies underneath. Of course, zero-V.O.C. white primer was used on all wood surfaces:
