Description: I used to know a deer hunter who brought me meat on several occasions. He talked about his thoughts on deer hunting and its therapeutic value, and how it gave him time to “contemplate the sins of the world”. I listened and “went there” in my mind. Not too long after that, I found myself illustrating his anecdotes by representing a face surrounded by dark foreboding woodlands, holding an image of the hunted in his mind’s eye. I called it “DeerHunter: Contemplating the Sins of the World”, to use the hunter’s exact words.
