The Heart of the Matter is part of my “Awakening” series of mixed media composites (2001 – present). It’s about thinking with our hearts and the value of intuition.
Through a process of rebirth, this heart is unburying itself to make itself seen! As it unfolds from the deep mountainous caverns from within the towering cliffs of rock, it ignites to breathe once again in broad daylight…in plain sight!
Irish poet, John O’Donohue speaks of this in his Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom:
“When love awakens in your life, in the night of your heart, it is like the dawn breaking within you. Where before there was anonymity, now there is intimacy; where before there was fear, now there is courage; where before in your life there was awkwardness, now there is a rhythm of grace and gracefulness; where before you used to be jagged, now you are elegant and in rhythm with your self. When love awakens in your life, it is like a rebirth, a new beginning.”
